*all reviews are Iris' unless stated otherwise

NECA National

https://www.necanet.org

Coronavirus Preparedness for Employers and Employees

Description: This course will tell you about simple steps you can take to stay healthy and prevent the spread of the virus and disease.

Approximate Length: 30 minutes

Rating: 9/10

Review: Had enough information but not too much. Quick and to the point. Good formatting.

Harassment Prevention for Employees

Description: This course, designed to meet general best practices for harassment training for employees and requirements under DOL 29.CRF.30, will help you understand what harassment is and how you can help prevent harassment in your workplace.

Approximate Length: 90 minutes

Rating: 7.5/10

Review: The information was good and very thorough, but the course formatting was not very well thought out. Could not pause and replay only the small section you needed, had to go over whole section. Some slides were voice-over only and some were text only. Made it hard to switch back and forth.

Working From Home: Strategies for Remote Employees

Description: This course will help you decide if telecommuting is a good fit for you and then provide some strategies for being effective as a remote employee.

Approximate Length: 45 minutes

Rating: 9/10

Review: It was a good course with enough information, but not too long that it got repetitive. I liked that it had a transcript and was interactive. Had good tips.

Communication Techniques

Description: This online, on-demand course focuses on learning how to use effective communication techniques.

Approximate Length: 30 minutes

Rating: 10/10

Review: Very quick and easy, simple to listen to. Good tips. Questions are tricky but they make sure you were paying attention. All verbal but with text slides.

Stress Management and Self-Care Webinar

Description: Stress is inevitable, and can have an adverse affect on your health, your business, and your relationships with those around you.

Approximate Length: 60 minutes

Rating: 8.5/10

Review: The webinar was good, Amanda's voice was very soothing - perfect for a stress management course. Good tips, but also felt like you were talking to a friend.

Professional Email Writing

Description: This online, on-demand course focuses on writing email messages that communicate clearly and drive employee and project action items.

Approximate Length: 45 minutes

Rating: 8/10

Review: The course had good information, gave tips that you didn't know you needed. You can't pause the slides but typically it is only one slide per section. Gives you time to take notes.

Job Kickoff Meetings

Description: This course will help the electrical project manager understand the goals of internal and external job kickoff meetings to ensure that all team members are focused on the project goals from the very start of the project.

Approximate Length: 45 minutes

Rating: 8/10

Review: Good information that you can use to create a list for job kickoff meetings. I found the course to have good info but I am not sure if contractors would already know all information or not. Good formatting, quick and simple.

Doing More with Less – How Digital Tools Are Changing the Way We Work Webcast Recording

Description: In this webcast recording we covered construction technology trends that are replacing traditional outdated workflows.

Approximate Length: 60 minutes

Rating: 9/10

Review: I thought the powerpoint was very efficient, with having charts for contractors to see what the most popular apps, tools, etc are.

Communication Best Practices for Project Managers

Description: This course will discuss the typical types of communications a project manager has and provide strategies to improve those communications.

Approximate Length: 45 minutes

Rating: 7.5/10

Review: This course had good information but I am not sure how much of this would be new information to a contractor. It did, however, have good base tips for how to communicate effectively.

Microsoft Word 2016: Part 2 - Intermediate

Description: This online, on-demand course focuses on Microsoft Word Intermediate Level skills to use tables and charts, customize formats with styles and themes, control document flow, manage long documents and use mail merge features.

Approximate Length: 3-5 hours (I paused the video a lot to take notes and also follow along on the provided word docs)

Rating: 10/10

Review: This was a great course with a lot of good information. It showed how to use a lot of the functions that you see but have probably never used. I liked that it came with handouts because you can follow along and get hands-on experience. The video was set up where you can pause at any point, so I took a lot of notes to keep as a cheat-sheet for myself.

Microsoft Word 2016: Part 3 - Advanced

Description: This online, on-demand course focuses on Microsoft Word Advanced Level features to manipulate images, create custom graphics, collaborate in real-time and automate repetitive tasks.

Approximate Length: 3-5 hours (I paused the video a lot to take notes and also follow along on the provided word docs)

Rating: 9/10

Review: This course had a lot of information, the only thing that I did not find to be "new" was the image section, as I work with images a lot when creating flyers. It had good practice sheets and was very thorough.

Microsoft Outlook 2016: Part 1 - Beginner

Description: This online, on-demand course focuses on the fundamentals of using Microsoft Outlook to send and receive email, manage your calendar, manage contacts and track your workflow.

Approximate Length: 2-3 hours

Rating: 8/10

Review: This would be a great course for anyone who is just starting out with Outlook as it shows the basics as well as gives some tips and tricks. I already knew about 85% of the information, after working with Outlook for a few years now, but I did learn some new things. I would recommend this course.

Microsoft Outlook 2016: Part 2 - Advanced

Description: This online, on-demand course focuses on increasing your Microsoft Outlook skills by learning how to use advanced features to manage your email, calendar, and contacts more effectively.

Approximate Length: 3-4 hours

Rating: 8/10

Review: I liked that this course gave additional information and tips/tricks to use Outlook more efficiently. Not every trick will be of use to everyone but nonetheless, it was good information.

Microsoft Excel 2016: Part 2 - Intermediate

Description: This online, on-demand course focuses on building your knowledge of the basic functionality of Excel by teaching you to perform more advanced calculations and specialized actions.

Approximate Length: 4 hours

Rating: 8.5/10

Review: I have taken the Fred Pryor Excel courses and this course was good as well. I would prefer the Fred Pryor course as it has a live teacher and he makes the class fun, but this NECA Excel course had lots of information as well. It also had practice sheets to use so you could follow along and practice if you'd like to.

Microsoft Excel 2016: Part 3 - Advanced

Description: This online, on-demand course focuses on advanced ways in Excel to collaborate with others, automate complex tasks, and predict future potential outcomes.

Approximate Length: 4-5 hours

Rating: 8/10

Review: This course went over many advanced features. There was not a lot that I would use on the daily, but it might be a very helpful course for people in sales, marketing, etc.

Fred Pryor

60 Minutes of Adobe Acrobat Secrets

Description: In this course you will learn the ins and outs of Adobe Acrobat.

Approximate Length: 120 minutes

Rating: 10/10

Review: There was A LOT of information but it was all good information. Video moved along fast but you were able to pause and rewind as you wish. With pausing and taking notes took 2-3 times as long as 60 minute title said.

Excel: Basics and Beyond the Basics

Description: These live webinars teach you all there is to know about Excel… and more!

Approximate Length: 2 days

Rating: 10/10

Review: These courses/webinars were great. Even if you thought you knew enough about Excel, turns out you didn't! The instructor was also great and made the class entertaining. Enough break time so you don't feel like you're just sitting at your desk all day. Also has great activity packets that come with the course.
